DONOR INFORMATION
Laguna Beach is
an exceptional city, appreciated by residents and visitors alike.
Laguna’s special beauty and charm are apparent, but the number of its
community
volunteers, while less visible, are also exceptional. Among the city’s
most valuable
programs is the college scholarship program for Laguna Beach High School graduates.
The amount of per-student
support provided each year by the community places
Laguna Beach High School in the forefront nationwide.
The Laguna Beach Festival of Arts provides the largest number of awards. Additionally numerous memorial and family scholarships honor special Laguna individuals. Scholarships range from $100 to $8,000. Although most of these are one-year awards, some are renewable for up to four years.
The cost of college places great financial pressure on students and their families. The value of community support as a investment in the future of tomorrow’s teachers, innovators and leaders continues to grow in importance.
2011 graduating class statistics include:
| Number of awards | 274 |
| Individuals receiving awards | 122 |
| LBHS graduates | 244 |
| Scholarship sponsors | 117 |
| Total Awards | $302,175 |
Donations to the Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Foundation are always appreciated. Donors can choose to augment an existing award or have LBHSSF determine the best use of their contributions. New scholarships are always welcome. All donations are tax deductible.
New Award Programs and Donations
New Award programs
may be established at any time by community organizations, service clubs,
businesses or individual citizens.
The procedure is simple. The sponsor decides the name and amount of the award,
the selection criteria and any special procedures.
Establishing a scholarship in the name of a group or individual gives continuing
recognition to that person or group as well as
assurance through the years that there will be a helping hand for promising
and deserving students.
Please contact us if you would like to establish a scholarship award, or to make a general donation.
How Scholarships may be funded:
• Direct payment
each year by sponsor to LBHSSF, sponsor designates amount.
• Funds contributed to LBHSSF and annually dispersed in the amount designated
by sponsor.
• Endowment requiring a minimum of $10,000, award amount is based on
interest earned each year.
This creates an annual scholarship to be given in perpetuity.
