History of The Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Foundation

In 1947 the Ebell Club, a prominent women’s community service organization, initiated scholarships at Laguna Beach High School. Since then the scholarship program has grown through the combined efforts of the LBHS staff including Jan Fritsen, LBHS counselor until 1986, Walt Lawson, LBHS counselor until 2001, and currently Jeannie Harrell. In addition to the LBHS staff, over 30 parent and community members form the Board of Trustees of the Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Foundation to support the scholarship process. In 1988, LBHSSF became an affiliate chapter of Dollars for Scholars, a program of the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America.
